I wanted to do it real bad. I guess you can get away with it, but I changed my mind and don't trust traditional RAID for any data that I want to keep. The alternative is ZFS and that requires the OS to communicate directly with the disks. You can get it working virtualised but you run the danger of losing the data, and taking a risk like that isn't really the point when setting up shit like this.

FreeNAS + anything else = AIDS. pfSense has nothing to do with that. It's because you don't want to virtualise your storage OS, the risk of losing data is too big for me.

Conclusion: storage via virtualisation sucks without spending a shitload of money. As I have to spend it anyway, I will build a second server just for FreeNAS.

Not really. Just setting up the networking needs to be done in a sane way. I just tested a reboot to see if my configuration brings up the places internet proper and I experienced no problems (it takes a couple of minutes though).

The shit has hit the fan: Gaming Deluxe will not be able to sell BF4 servers. EA decided to not include them in the BF4 party.
We can choose Multiplay and i3D though... Yay...
